The goal of this project was to streamline a cluttered audio setup for a vintage turntable while showcasing a custom product design. I wanted to consolidate three bulky components into a single, cohesive unit that blended functionality with a mid-century aesthetic.

I designed and 3D-printed a custom enclosure to house all three components: a pre-amp, an amp with audio control, and the audio drivers. The amplifier's motherboard was removed from its original casing and integrated into the new front plate, and then re-wired to a new power switch to better suit the project's visual style. For the audio output, I recycled drivers from an old boombox and mounted them in dedicated side boxes, finished with speaker fabric for a professional look and clean sound. Finally, the pre-amp was mounted in the back of the unit, with an open port to connect the aux cables and ground wire from the turntable. 

 

I initially attempted to power both the amp and pre-amp via a single 5V DC jack, but this shared connection created significant ground loop feedback. I resolved this issue by keeping the power supplies separate, splitting them into two separate 5V DC jacks to ensure a clean, noise-free signal.
