Boba Fett Post Jetpack, The Mandalorian S2

Expanding on my previous Mandalorian Season 2 Boba Fett replica work, I was commissioned to fabricate the full set of “Post Sarlacc” armor. This project is divided into two sections; the armor and the jetpack. The whole project was completed in a short turnaround of about a month of work.

The jetpack build started with the Anovos Boba Fett jetpack kit as a base. Typically, I prefer to use my own 3D models, however, the client already had a jetpack kit in hand that they wanted to use.

This fiberglass kit was a good starting point, but required modifications for accuracy and practicality. The rocket assembly was combined into one piece and reinforced for durability, and the connection point was redesigned with a 3D printed coupler that secured the rocket in place with a threaded rod and wingnut. This allowed the rocket to remain removable for travel and be swapped out with the Cobb Vanth rocket. This rocket was made using JJ Industries rocket files as a base (also client requested).

The body of the jetpack was missing the repair plate detail, which I modeled in Fusion 360, using a 3D scan of the jetpack, and printed in ASA filament. The body of the jetpack received a layer of texture to match the screen-used jetpack before the basecoat of chrome. The chrome was masked with liquid latex to simulate paint damage before applying the layering of colors and decals. Once the latex was removed, everything received a matte clear coat and a generous build-up of weathering. Most of the greeblies were found parts or aluminum machined parts provided by the client, including a jetpack beacon and stabilizer by Machinecraft Replicas. A beacon LED circuit made by Quest Designs was also installed.
