Mercury Helmet, Starfield

I have long wanted to dive into more realistic, grounded space helmet projects. The Mercury space helmet rendition from the game Starfield was a fantastic starting point, offering a stylized version of the actual Mercury Program helmets, which also provided a robust library of functional, real-world reference.

The helmet was 3D modeled in Autodesk Fusion 360, relying primarily on the in-game geometry and integrating details from the real-world helmets to ensure all components were functionally viable. Where possible, real hardware was incorporated to join the parts and facilitate movement. This model was engineered to be composed mostly of end-use 3D printed parts rather than being molded and cast. The final helmet will utilize a mix of FDM and SLA printed components, finished with an optically clear urethane cast visor.

This entry will be updated once production is complete.
